The Constant Knitter

The Constant Knitter is run by a lady called Rosemary Murphy whom I met at the start your own business course I attended and she became one of my first clients. Rosemary is really open to ideas and, as you probably know if you’ve had a read of this site, I love that. The brief was very short, she wanted something catchy, a little different and she wanted it to catch a few eyes.

I began this logo by researching knitting and went down lots of directions before deciding on this one. I experimented with scanning lots of pieces of knitting and I loved the patterns created by all the different stitches and wool. So I took this idea, then I created a type based logo, I wanted it to look a little manic, a little intense, I wanted it to represent someone who was addicted to knitting, who lived for dropped stitches and all things woolly. Once I had this basic design I cut in the wool patterns so the letters were now made wool. The needles were a nice little touch to hold the letters in place. This logo then became the basis for the poster, leaflets, stationary and website.

This logo was spotted in a busy Dublin cafe and earned me my place in “Prudence” magazine so I have a lot to thank “The Constant Knitter” for!
